Welcome to my music page. Here you will find news about new projects I am working on, new music, videos, my thoughts with everything going on in the world plus the world of music/events I will be hosting or performing at. When I tell you this has been a long journey, it's almost an understatement making that statement. I'm still in the process of laying the foundation to build the structure. But before I go any further, here's a little about myself.
I was born in Washington DC and grew up on the Northwest side before moving to Maryland. My dad owned his own construction company and my mom use to work at the treasury office before she started working with my dad. I was fortunate to grow up in a middle class family and not have to deal with the issues that affect a lot of African American families. Being in a better situation than most, I still had to deal with issues. My dad passed when I was three, I lost my grandmother when I was nine, I dealt with depression, lost a child and almost committed suicide just to name a few. I said that to say no matter what type of social class you grow up in, life has a way of making you question a lot of things.
With that, I use music as therapy sessions. When my grandmother was alive, my mom and I would take train rides to New York and visit. That is where I was introduced to hip hop. As I became more open to music, I started listening to rock from the 70's, pop music from the 80's, classical scores, blues, soul and alternative rock. Anything that had a sound that caught my ear, I listened to and found myself becoming a student. How did that artist come up with those lyrics? What made him or her pick the music they used to express those feelings? How were they able to make that song sound the way it did? Small things that I learned from them helped me to put together my music catalog. The things I have been through in my life I share because why keep it in? Maybe my experiences will help someone or influence the next great artist like those who influence me to this day.
To all those who are fans or may become fans, I truly appreciate you taking the time to listen to my story. I love the creative process of writing a song, going into the studio, working with like minded people to present you, the listener, something that you can debate about. Music has done a lot for me and I am very grateful to God for this gift. The journey is not over by any means. I have so much to do and want to accomplish. All I have done is laid the foundation. I am now in the process of building the structure. The real work begins now.
